Heartbreaking to see the hate here in this group
Hi, I'm a person from India, moved here few months ago after many years in the US. Joined this group to connect with people from my country as I settle in a new place.
But I see a lot of people here who seem to have joined to spread hatred and their racist thoughts against indians. A space that's supposed to be for support and community is now containing hatred and vile, insensitive comments.
I have never experienced such passive aggression or anonymous active aggression before. Unfortunately I also had a violent attack on me in the city center by someone who goes around city spitting on and attacking people of color and shares videos online. It's high time we put a stop to this hate and live in peace.
Edit: I want to share a bit about me. I love the field I work in, I got to study at an ivy league in the US and work for a bit as well. My company flew me out to Dublin, along with sponsoring my visa etc. Thats how I landed here.
This post is clearly not a blanket statement about the Irish. I've very lovely colleagues and good interactions with many folks from here. This post is about the hate that's spreading in spaces meant for community and support.
