17F BEST DAY OF MY LIFE

So basically im still shaking while typing this but i just need to get it out because literally nobody in my real life would believe me.

i have been going to this same tiny coffee shop near my campus for like two semesters now. and there is this guy who works there. lets call him Leo. he is always super quiet, kinda intimidating tbh, wears a lot of black, but he always makes my iced matcha perfectly. like he actually mixes the powder right which is rare lol. anyway we never really talked beyond me saying thank you and him giving me that tiny nod.

well today was literally the worst day of my life. i failed my midterm, i dropped my phone and cracked the screen completely, and then it started pouring rain while i was walking. i didnt have an umbrella because the weather app lied to me. so i run into the coffee shop soaking wet, looking like a literal swamp monster, just wanting to sit in the corner and cry.

the place is totally empty because it’s late. i go to order and my voice literally cracks. i felt so embarrassing. i just asked for a black coffee because i didnt want to make him do extra work since they were closing in twenty minutes.

leo just looks at me for a second. he doesnt say anything, he just walks to the back. i thought he was annoyed because i was dripping water on the floor. i felt so bad i almost just walked out.

but then he comes back with a towel. a clean, warm towel from the back. he doesn't hand it to me, he just gently puts it over my head and starts drying my hair for me. it was so quiet except for the rain hitting the glass outside. he was being so incredibly gentle, like he was scared he would break me.

then he says, you look like you need something sweet.

he didnt make the black coffee. he made this huge hot chocolate with whipped cream and caramel drizzle and brought it over to a booth, and then he pulled off his apron and sat across from me. we ended up talking for two hours. he stayed past his shift closing time just to listen to me vent about my stupid midterm and my broken phone. turns out he’s actually incredibly funny and he noticed months ago that i always listen to indie rock because he saw my spotify lockscreen once.

when we left he gave me his oversized hoodie so i wouldn't get cold walking home and he walked me all the way to my dorm building under his umbrella. i am literally wearing his hoodie right now and it smells exactly like cedarwood and coffee beans.

im losing my mind you guys. is this real life?? what do i even say to him tomorrow when i go back??
