Shadowsteel Ghoul stage 2 transformation option Shadowsteel Caster says that if you use a shadowsteel component to cast a spell using a spell slot, you can spend a hit die to regain that spell slot.

What is a shadowsteel component? Are they the shadowsteel curse special components? Or does using a shadowsteel focus count as a 'shadowsteel component' since focuses count as material components in spells?
