Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) kinda sucks?
Hey everyone,
I recently picked up a 2026 CX-5, and mechanically, I absolutely love it. It drives great, the interior feels premium, and the motor has plenty of juice.
However, I am losing my mind over how incredibly weak the Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) / Lane-keep assist is. I know Mazda has their whole "driver-centric" philosophy and they don't want the car driving for you, but this is ridiculous.
My car has the full CTS/TJA setup. On a perfectly straight road or the absolute slightest of highway bends, it's fine. But the second a real, moderate curve comes up, the system just completely washes out and gives up. I can literally feel that the electric steering motor has the torque to handle the turn, but the software chooses to just let the car drift toward the ditch until I intervene.
I've already gone into the Mazda Connect safety settings and messed with the cancel sensitivity, but it didn't change the actual steering strength at highway speeds.
Has anyone found a workaround for this? Are there any hidden settings or dealer firmware flashes that actually make the lane centering hold a line?
If the factory tech is completely hard-coded to be this weak, has anyone successfully hooked up a Comma.ai / OpenPilot system to the 2026 redesign yet, or are we locked out because of the new platform architecture?
Appreciate any advice or hacks you guys might have. Thanks!
