While Chitra Banerjee is an excellent author and writes well, this book didnt quench my thirst to be awed. Its a easy to read Sitayan, which explains the female perspective of Ramayan well. But with fresh memories of Raavan (Amish) I just read this as any other Ramayan. Worth a read if you are amazed easily.

Banerjee brings Sita to life after 2/3rd of the story is covered and yet it doesnt bring the depths that one would expect.

The imperfections of the characters have been hidden forcefully rather than being pondered upon as a perspective. something I would expect from Chitra Banerjee.

If you want to try out Chitra Banerjee as an author I would much recommend her other works such as The Last Queen and The Palace of Illusions before you move on to The forest of Enchantments to complete your journey.

Haruki murakami's wild sheep chase!!!.

While this book had a major build up to why there is a sheep chase it did not have a good enough climax. The author explained the importance of sheep in one paragraph and very plainly. In that sense this book could be considered simple and plain. This book did not have a grip on me nor did it reward my persistence.

Somebody needs to explain to me why was this book written!!! Or has it lost its meaning in translation!!. Has anyone read it in Japanese itself and finds it any different? Kindly weigh on this!!

Though written as a fiction novel, this book is factually correct on most parts. it has avoided any scenes which could be historically incorrect. it has kept dialogue's to a minimum to avoid getting swayed.

What could be boring about a non-fiction historical biography is you would know how it ends. you would know that the person is defeated in so and so battle.

what is great about shivaji is, his glory continues and ranjit desai has portrayed the mission and idea of the man very holistically. as someone who likes to read historical non-fiction, and likes to read in a timeline this fiction delivered well. its books like this that make me want to read more history.

Indian education system has not done justice to non-mughal and non-colonialism history. This is why the intrests in subjects othet than these two topics does not spark naturally. But living in a city like mumbai, where they have historical structures named after the great chatrapatti shivaji mahraj you find yourself intrigued to dwell deeper into the subject. And given that there is a huge history of marathas and you might want to skim the subject before deep diving, this is the Perfect book. It brings out the ideologies and subjects very nicely.

I think he does the stunts amazingly. He had a hard luck and hence got eliminated but I am so excited for him to be back. He gives his 110% in each stunt without any drama. I was very upset when he went. And what a banging entry. He outdid everyone and so amazingly. So well deserved.
