Mini Woodshed Project

Took my wife and I about four days and multiple trips to the hardware store to complete this beauty. The hardest part was the entire day it took to stain. Very happy with the results!!

Olympic Discovery/Adventure Trail Overnight

First bikepacking trip filled with unexpected trials and gifts. I originally planned to bike the first section of the XWA from La Push to Port Angeles with an overnight somewhere near Lake Crescent. The main section of dirt road climbing was inaccessible due to road construction that I didn’t plan for. This led to the first 30 miles being along Hwy on a full-suspension MTB. I learned quickly that the added weight to the frame and mostly wearing a backpack led to some of the worst butt pain of my life. I bike a decent amount and never have experienced being so uncomfortable in the saddle. I ended up at 100k for the first day all on tarmac due to the fact that I couldn’t find anywhere to camp. Ended up finding an amazing spot about a half mile past Crescent Lake along the creek flowing out of the lake. Honestly best gift of the trip!

Day two - Olympic Adventure Trail! Two things … 1. This trail is incredible!!! 2. My butt was in so much pain that it made it difficult to pedal. I will definitely come back and ride this section of trail again. Just special and spectacular! And yet, on this particular day, I’ve never wanted to give up more. Put simply… I got my ass handed to me. Wearing a backpack and having my bike weighed down by so much gear left me gutted and humbled. The trail is not technical and most all of the climbing is gradual…mostly flowy and fun.

Shout out to Lola’s Cafe in Port Angeles for an excellent post-ride breakfast!!

I will be back again to regain my pride that this adventure stole!! Get out there and give it a go!!
