How do you know if knowing another Romance language is helping?

So I grew up with Haitian Creole and French as a kid. I started studying French again last summer (Duolingo + podcasts). Now I can watch native French YouTube, I finished two Harry Potter audiobooks, and I started Une Terre promise by Obama (audiobook, very slowly). I also just started an Olly Richards graded reader (A2/B1).

Now I’m doing Spanish (Dreaming Spanish - 195 hours), and this is why I’m asking: I can follow the lower-end advanced and higher-end intermediate videos. I don’t know all the words, but I understand what’s going on.

How do you know if knowing another Romance language is actually helping vs just thinking it is?

Agustina with Amanda from Dreaming French.

This was a great interview! The difficulty score is 57 but I had no issues following it.
