Before reading One Piece, I already had seen this image while being aware that Zoro would have a scar on his eye after the timeskip. Both the blood running through his face and his visually exhausted state made me hope this would be the moment, but it wasn't until I finished Thriller Bark that my theory of Zoro "losing" his eye against Kuma got debunked.

Anyway, I like to keep thinking this is how he may lost it, it would be a great indicator of growth along the "nothing happened" scene.
