According to a press conference the Philippines’ national selection will be hosted by one of if not the BIGGEST celebrities the Philippines has, Vice Ganda.

To put into perspective how (in the words of one Venus Raj) major major this is, this is the equivalent of having Petra Mede host the first ever Melodifestivalen.

Vice Ganda is an actor, comedian and one of the hosts of one of the largest noontime tv shows in the Philippines, It’s Showtime. A staple in Filipino culture, Vice basically influenced Filipino humor massively to the point Wikipedia itself highlighted her impact. Vice is also a vocal champion for the local LGBTQ+ community in the Philippines and is part of the community themselves.

As a funnier sidenote: she has used the stagings of multiple Eurovision acts for his It’s Showtime performances including but not limited to Moldova 2018, Cyprus 2021 and infamously Sweden 2023 and the giant panini press.

All in all, this is to say the Philippines is not playing around when it comes to ESCA.

I’m finally getting to see Ariana Grande and suffice to say, it hasn’t fully sunk in that I’m seeing one of my literal idols in concert.

So a little bit about me, I was around 5-6 years old when Victorious was on the air and rewatched it constantly with my older cousins.

It wasn’t until The Way that I got into Ariana Grande and started listening heavily.

I knew all of Yours Truly front to back (and fell in love with Pink Champagne iykyk), and practically followed every release since then.

Aside from Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande had always been one of the artists I would drop everything to see live. Ever since the SWT I promised myself that I would see her live in concert once I had my own money to spend.

Today I plan my trip to go see one of my biggest idols in concert. My seats are in the nosebleeds with a limited view but I truly couldn’t care less, I’m going to have the time of my life and finally fulfill a childhood dream of mine.
