Simple TOU system, (1)5P battery with combiner 5 or do I need a 5C?
I have a highly energy efficient new home R60 ceiling R28 walls, Alpen glazing, my TOU records show only a very small 2.5 kWh total usage during the 3 hour peak load window (4pm-7pm) so I want to install a small 5 kWh battery that will shave off this 3 hour load. With this peak load gone I can sign up for the cheaper TOU rate plan.
I’m looking at a simple TOU load shedding system with a 5P battery and combiner box. Not for grid backup.
My house has WiFi (Starlink) but no cell service from ATT or Sprint.
I have read conflicting statements about this grid tied system needing both WiFi and cell service.
Yes, it’s needed on the 10c grid back up systems, but no on the smaller 5P Grid tied system.
Looking at the Enphase Planning guide, page 48 section 9.2.1.1 shows this simple 5P battery only TOU system.
Any thoughts or suggestions or warnings you fine folks have for me? Thanks in advance.
