Funds transfer from parents for buying a house in Ireland
Has anyone here received a funds transfer from their parents in India to Ireland for purchasing a house?
I’m currently in the process of buying a house in Ireland and my parents will be transferring some funds from India towards the purchase.
For anyone who has been through a similar situation, what proof/source-of-funds documents did your solicitor and bank ask for?
Did you have to provide things like:
- Parents’ Indian bank statements showing the source/history of the funds
- Parents’ salary slips or ITRs/tax returns
- Gift deed or gift letter
- Proof of relationship
- Evidence of how the money was accumulated
- Bank statements showing the transfer from India to Ireland
Also, did the Irish bank or solicitor ask any additional questions about the transfer or the source of the funds?
Would really appreciate hearing about your recent experiences, particularly if you’ve gone through this for a house purchase in Ireland. Thanks!
