Tools, toys, and time-savers: Digging into Developer Platform apps
Hey friends!
Welcome back to another episode in the Mod Topics saga. Today we’re digging into the Developer Platform (also known as Devvit) and how its apps can decrease drudgery, drive discovery, and deepen discussion.
Developer Platform apps can do lots of things to add new tools and experiences to a community without requiring mod teams to build something from scratch or host it themselves. For example, apps can help…
- Notice potentially unwanted content, links, or accounts
- Automate routine actions like applying flair, removing content, or approving users
- Plan community hubs and events with threads, calendars, reminders, polls, and games
- Stay informed about reports, removals, and other community insights
And that’s only a sample of what’s available in the full library. Before installing an app, it’s worth reviewing its permissions/settings, deciding who on the team will oversee it, and testing how it fits into your existing moderation process. When in doubt, always check with your team first!
What would you most like an app to take off your team’s plate or help bring to your community? If your team already uses Devvit, which apps have you found most valuable? Let us know in the comments below!
