Radon system issues after 6hr+ power outage in moderate rain
Hi all--I was hoping someone could give me some advice; around two weeks ago we lost power during a moderate-to-heavy rainstorm, and naturally the mitigation system let in a fair amount of rain, directly underneath the house slab. Since then, it seems like the system isn't working as well.
The system itself is a GX5 fan, pulling directly from a subslab soil void, as we don't have any gravel/rock base. We are using two monitors to test radon, an Airthings Corentium Home and an Aranet Radon+, and their measurements correlate.
Before the outage, the levels were around 1.5-1.8 pCiL, with occasional rises into the low 2's. This was even during some intense rains. Immediately after the power came back on, the first week or so was above 6, before beginning to drop. Now, the average is 3+, with rises above 5. Levels look like they're plateauing here, based off measurements from this past week.
The fan itself seems to be working--however, when calling our company to check the system out, the guy physically pushed the monometer up (I guess it was installed too low in the plastic holder?). So now, we've lost our only reference to suction levels from before the outage.
Any advice would be appreciated. Also, if it's pertinent, the company does hold AARST and NRPP certs.
