Mexican + U.S. passports: what happened the first time you traveled with both?

I keep seeing questions from new Mexico U.S. dual citizens about traveling with two passports, but everyone's experience seems a little different.

So for those who have already done it:

What was your first international trip like after getting your Mexican passport?

Did you run into any surprises with:

🛫 Airline check-in?

🇲🇽 Entering Mexico?

🇺🇸 Returning to the U.S.?

📄 Different names or information between documents?

🛂 Knowing which passport to present at different points?

Or was the whole experience completely straightforward?

If you've traveled several times as a dual citizen, what's one thing you wish someone had told you before your first trip?

And if you're a new dual citizen who hasn't traveled yet:

What's the one thing you're most confused or worried about?

Let's share real experiences so the next person doesn't have to learn everything the hard way.

You have a $100 budget to build your dream 3 artist concert lineup. Artists have varying "costs." What's your lineup?

Alright, music fans, let's play a high-stakes game of fantasy concert promoter!

Imagine you've been given a $100 budget to book a 3-artist concert lineup. The catch? Each artist has a different

"cost" based on their current popularity and status.

Here's the pricing tier:

$50: A massive, stadium-selling global superstar e.g., Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake, Metallica.

$30: A highly popular, arena-level artist or band e.g., Arctic Monkeys, SZA, Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters.

$15: A well-known, established mid-tier artist or rising star e.g., Phoebe Bridgers, Turnstile, J. Cole, Mitski.

$5: An indie darling, a niche favorite, or a classic legacy act that doesn't tour much anymore e.g., Neutral Milk Hotel, a local favorite, a cult classic band.

The Rules:

  1. You MUST spend exactly $100 (or as close to it as possible without going over)

  2. You MUST book exactly 3 artists.

  3. You can mix and match genres however you want. What is your ultimate $100 concert lineup? Drop your three artists and their estimated "cost" below!

If your parents handed you every document you needed today, how soon would you apply for Mexican citizenship?

Imagine this happened today...

Your parents hand you a folder containing:

✅ Mexican birth certificate

✅ Marriage certificate (if applicable)

✅ Your birth certificate

✅ Valid IDs

✅ Everything else you need to apply.

What's the very next thing you'd do?

* Book the first consulate appointment you can find?

* Keep researching before applying?

* Wait until you have more time or money?

* Talk with your family first?

* Consider completing the process in Mexico instead?

For those who have already become dual citizens...

What finally convinced you to stop researching and actually submit your application?

Sometimes the biggest obstacle isn't eligibility it's taking the first step.

I'd love to hear what motivated you, or what's still holding you back.
