Just picked up this nice little unit today. Just look at her perking away! I wanted one that didn't have the blue Cornflower pattern, just not my style. Peep the also new-to-me Fiesta tapered mug in Scarlett 😁 Vintage perking might be a vibe.
Some folks were interested in my VW spring mod on my Mirage so here are some before and after pics.
The springs are from a '98 to '11 New Beetle. Golf/Jetta units may also work as they are the same chassis, but these are what I've heard work and what I used.
Direct replacement, remove and replace, however I did omit the spring cup isolators because it was a tight fit getting them in and I'm lazy.
My original springs were pretty jacked, especially the drivers side, but the upgrade seems to have lifted the rear about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches and increased the cargo capacity by a full grown Murican male.
Yeah, I painted them orange. So what, you wanna fight about it?
I haven't even replaced the shocks yet, although they've been leaking for 30k miles or so... Again, lazy.
I just completed a cross-country move in my Mirage loaded up with about 6-700lbs of junk while towing a trailer weighing about 1000lbs. 1400 miles over 3 days. Stuck to Google Maps "no highways" directions keeping it at 60 mph in 4th gear- no overdrive while towing! Averaged 31 mpg.
Car is an '18 with 155k on it, 185/55R15 tires on '04 Civic 6 inch wheels, and VW New Beetle rear springs. This thing is a workhorse.
