Deep sea

Hello gents,

Does anybody know about any deep sea companies that hire entry level? I have my mmc, twic, stcw, and passport but no experience besides unrelated labor experience. I know of military sea lift, but they aren’t looking for people right now.

Deep sea is a preference but I’m ready to get on any type of boat in the engine or deck department. I knew the market was brutal for entry-level but man I’m ready to pay someone for a reference or something😭.

I appreciate any advice or recommendations!

Dang fellas.. when I first looked into this industry I saw how hard it was to get an entry-level job, but I thought maybe applicants were lazy or something of the sort. I’m now over 100 applications in with a twic, mmc, stcw, and vpdsd and no matter what I do, I cannot get onto a ship😭😭.

The closest I got to an offer was Kirby gave me a singular phone call, but I was at my grandmother’s doctors appointment (who has cancer) and they told me I missed my shot because I missed the call which is fair. Does anybody have any recommendations or is it just simply a numbers game with the applications? I’ll literally pay someone to get my foot in the door at this point🤣.

Airplane questions

Hey fellas,

Super weird and random question but I was just wondering how soon you get your tickets for flights when MSC is about to ship you out. I Always prefer to select the back row if possible so I was just curious if that’s realistic.

Also sidenote, does anyone know when the entry level is opening back up again? I know there’s a heinous wait time.

Thanks!

Hey gents,

So I’m entering the industry and just signed a contract for my first job. I was super excited but seeing all this Jones act stuff has me really concerned.

Is the industry fucked or is this something that will blow over?

Hey fellas,

I got an offer from American cruise lines, and I recently accepted it. The recruiter told me that every day goes towards your sea time and since you work 12 hour shifts, it’s actually 1.5 days per day… if that makes sense. I was just wondering if he’s just selling me a position or if there’s truth to that? I would really like to get my 180 days so I can rank up to an AB.

Also not as important of a question, but how are the gyms on American cruise line ships? I’m not a bodybuilder or anything, but I like to stay in shape.

Thanks!
