A Texas shearling wool liner releases large hooks as easily as it grabs them and is naturally water absorbent and antimicrobial. Reel is ready-to-fish out of the box. Just tie the final length of tippet (eg 1.5X river depth of 5X fluorocarbon to point fly) and begin fishing.

What happens when you encounter a hatch and you have only your ESN or crossover rod?

Instead of trekking back to the truck, you can simply snip the 30’ leader at the fly line to leader connection (a small tippet ring), store the long euro leader on an empty tippet spool, and tie a standard leader to the end of the WF3F Technical Trout fly line to fish dries as usual. In my experience, most ESN rods cast standard WF lines and long nylon leaders surprisingly well.

Overlining to a WF3F helps to make the casting stroke smoother and more deliberate. The added bonus of a relatively more massive line is its ability to cast with greater accuracy and distance in a headwind.

Lastly, Technical Trout is a true-to-weight, very long-bellied taper that enables long, accurate, and delicate casts when targeting rising (and spooky) fish.

This was part of Euro Nymphing outfit for my wife before she came clean about not loving fly fishing as much as she initially let on/as much as I had hoped she would.

That’s why it’s new and un-fished despite being fully rigged.
