Hi all :) What tech resources/books/subscriptions are must haves for social studies teachers. Ideally for lesson planning but anything goes.

For context I am a new teacher at a smaller, therapeutic school beginning very soon (AHHHHH)!!! I am going to be teaching a US 1 block, US 2 block, and a News Literacy elective to a few seniors. I can assume all of these classes will be small, mix of reading levels/grades, and many students will be “work avoidant”.

My curriculum supervisor just asked me what tech supports/books I might want. I have some ideas but I wanted to hear from you all (the wisest bunch I know 🤟). Can you let me know which resources or subscriptions are must haves for lesson planning/teaching?

I already have: The DBQ library, blooket, any other suggestions?

Hey all, I’m a brand new history teacher just out of student teaching and I’m starting a new job this year at a therapeutic, smaller school for students with needs. I’ll be teaching US 1, US 2, to all HS grades, and a News Literacy elective to 6 seniors. Although I haven’t met them yet, I was told my students would be pretty reluctant and avoidant so I need to find creative ways to make learning fun. I want to implement an incentive system (maybe tickets, points,idk) for all my classes but I’m not sure how to make it equitable, sustainable, and cost effective. I’m curious what you all have done or if anyone has any suggestions.
