Here's a scene for you: imagine a support team lead at a call center. Half her agents take calls in English, and she's seen a few of them freeze when a customer talks fast or goes off script. She's been asked to "look into language training" with no real budget and no desire whatsoever for a long procurement process.

This is roughly the pilot we'd walk her through.

She can start small. Not with her keenest learners, but with three agents who use English on EVERY shift. If daily practice doesn't stick for people who need the language every day, it won't stick for anyone. Before anything else she asks us for the security documentation, because in her company that's what ends up killing new tools, not necessarily the price. (She's not alone. In Synthesia's 2026 survey of L&D teams, security ranked above budget as the main blocker.)

Those three get Premium free for one week. No contract, no integration, nothing for IT to set up. The only thing she watches that week is whether each of them actually opens the app on more than a couple of days. Nobody gets fluent in seven days, and she doesn't expect them to. She just wants to know if 10 minutes of practice can help them survive a real shift.

Two of them practise most days. The third barely touches it, which tells her something too.

So she moves to a month with 10 seats. That's the minimum, at $12 per seat, month to month. She keeps the three from the free week, adds seven more agents with the same-ish profile, and swaps the third agent's seat to someone more motivated. Licences are reassignable, so that takes a minute in the admin dashboard.

At the end of the month she looks at two things. How many days each person practised. And whether the vocabulary in their sessions got harder over time, as well as what they sound like because what someone actually says tells you more than how many lessons they ticked off.

She also goes in with her eyes open. It doesn't plug into her LMS. It's on mobile only for now. Levels are assessed by our own CEFR-aligned system, not a certified exam, so anyone who needs a certificate will still sit one externally. And a month shows whether a habit forms, not whether someone jumps a full level, so that's not her pass/fail bar.

Then there's the math she brings to her manager. At about an hour of practice a week, a $12 seat comes out to roughly $3 per hour of speaking practice. Published rates for one-to-one tutoring run $50 to $120 an hour.

I mean, it's so vague and could mean something different to everyone. What does it mean to you?

I've seen a ton of comments floating around about this, so let's maybe address this question head on, shall we?

You can ask your tutor to practice a specific rule. If you know subjunctive is your weak spot, or you keep messing up past perfect, you can just go "let's practice conditional sentences" or "I keep messing up ser vs estar, can we work on that." The tutor will build the conversation around that structure specifically instead of just correcting it IF it happens to come up. Remember this: personalization.

Corrections come with the explanation. When you make a grammar mistake mid conversation, the correction isn't just "here's the right way to say it." Your tutor will usually break down the rule behind it (unless you selected mega-short responses, but you can still ask why). So if you want the theory, it's 100% there, along with examples to help you really GET IT. Segueing into...

You can request examples on the spot. Then again, if it wasn't super clear, asking for two or three more examples using that same structure is a normal thing to do mid session. It's not limited to one correction and moving on.

The difference between passive grammar knowledge and grammar under pressure. A lot of learners who've done years of formal grammar study still freeze up applying the rule in a live sentence. Praktika is helping you get over that *freeze* moment by improving your spoken rhythm.

So no, Praktika's technique isn't structured like a grammar book. I think we're all still a bit more comfortable with a structured format because it's safe but using Praktika is about getting out of that comfort zone and doing the hardest part possible in learning a language: merging grammar with actual sounds coming out of your mouth.

Short answer? Teams that need people practicing a language OFTEN (for internal and external comms).

Good fit if you're at a company where English (or another language) is needed daily for work, and you'd rather spread a budget across a whole team than pay for intensive lessons just for a few. It starts with a free one-week pilot.

With more and more international teams coming together, language acquisition en masse is a thing. What language do you speak at your company?

Do you need structure and set times or do you learn whenever you get a second? When in the day/week do you learn best?

At a dinner the other night, I heard someone say 'pero' (but), when they meant 'perro' (dog) in Spanish.

This happens more than you think, so thought I'd share some tips:

Portuguese
Pão (bread) vs pau (stick -- that's the PG version and you can look up the other one). Remember to exaggerate the nasal sound if you're going for bread.

Spanish
Pero (but) vs perro (dog). One properly rolled r changes everything.

French
Poisson (fish) vs poison (poison). Focus on the double ss sound to make the difference, especially if you're at a dinner. ;)

Polish
Sześć (six) and Cześć (hi) trips up almost every learner. Get ready to make this combo of sounds a lot.

Mandarin
Mā, má, mǎ, mà. Same sound, four tones, four completely different meanings (mother, hemp, horse, scold).

Arabic
The emphatic vs non-emphatic consonants, like قلب (heart) vs كلب (dog). One small shift in throat position and you're saying something very different.

Have fun with it, or ask your tutor for more.
