These giant bees have been very active in south Harrisburg and I’ve seen them in other parts of town too. (Swatara and penbrook). I’ve lived here 40 years and have not seen them this big. They tend to be ground nesting. Fortunately I have not been close to stung by them yet. They seem to not go after people as far as I can tell yet. What are they. Where are they from? How do we get rid of them? They are terrifying!
I am a coach of a 10u rec team that’s inside of a competitive rec league. Our all star team plays in travel local tournaments and wins about 50/50. Last summer and winter I did free clinics to help the kids that weren’t at the all star level. I love adding reps by doing tee work and soft toss on the side while a coach or a pitching machine provides full BP. However the all star team mainly practices by doing live kid pitch at bats. Counting strikes and running on the first hit.
Would it be more effective to switch my summer clinics to mostly live at bats or should I continue doing tee work and soft toss to improve the swings of these average to below average players? Also. The main weakness of these kids is fear of the ball which holds them back from swinging for max contact. Thanks!
