Should I write a fic?
Just finished both CC and CT and I have some ideas bouncing around in my head though I don't think they're good enough to spend time writing out. Sharing it here as maybe some feedback could give me the push I need or at least an outlet so I can finally stop thinking about it:
Story Goals:
- Fill in plot holes between Dominion and Rebirth:
- Why did the flourishing dinosaurs in the mainlands suddenly die out? Possibly, the government is tasking the creation of a virus lethal only to dinosaurs since they are becoming a problem. They were created to age faster so they reproduce faster. The loss of life and injury caused by carnivores is one thing but even the herd of herbivores is devastating to the environment as they need to constantly eat in order to fuel their rapid growth. But pro-dinosaur activists didn't want the dinos to be hurt or killed off so the government had to do it covertly.
- How were the dinosaurs relocated to the equatorial regions? Were the Nublar six instrumental in this move? Perhaps they were motivated to push this forward in order to save the dinos from the killing virus. Is there an organization that helmed this migration and are they continuously supporting the dinos now living in the equatorial regions?
- Give each character a legacy. Possible legacies:
- Kenji: He has a knack for cutthroat business just like his father but the talent is not being utilized. Perhaps it is a good idea to give him a push that he creates his own company, what would become a global organization that protects dinosaur ecosystems and keeps them from being exploited. He'll need someone that will recognize that talent in him. Maybe a love interest he meets as a student on his climbing lessons?
- Sammy: the Gutierrez farm needs a new direction. This could be a journey of how Sammy becomes the head of the business and partners with Kenji's nature preserving org.
- Yasmina: Expound on her work. What are these seminars? How is she helping Dr. Henry Wu? How did Wu change his ways? What was so important about the two assets Wu was chasing down in season 4 of Chaos Theory and how can it be beneficial to humanity?
- Ben: he will take a backseat on this one. He has a heart condition. He cannot be too active. Perhaps it would get worse which would incentivise Dr Wu and Yaz to stir their research into curing heart disease. He will still help the Camp Fam in ways he can but more on just scouring the web for any info.
- Brooklynn: Not sure if she and Darius should get together, although personally I want them to. Brooklynn is also working at BioSyn but she is more like Darius' "Woman in the chair". She is honoring her dads wish to stay safe but is finding it hard being cooped up but will find she can do a lot more good done this way than she did in the field.
- Darius: he is with BioSyn. The org is now turning a new leaf and is actually aiming to help dinosaurs and humanity. Darius is instrumental to this. He might be the one to discover the pattern of dinos dying not being natural. It is he that jumpstarts the plot. I'm not sure but I might kill him off before the story closes. This should be a heroic sacrifice. He might leave behind a child (with Brooklyn? I dunno) this is mainly, story wise, for Kenji to get off his butt and properly manage the "Darius Foundation" (that might be the org he would build) whose mission is to protect dinosaur rights. Darius dying also gives finality to the series.
Storytelling Style:
I'm thinking different points of views per chapter following each of the Nublar 6, though Darius' would come up more than the others. They might meet up briefly but they won't be working together as closely as with Chaos Theory, rather, they would each be tackling their own problems that collectively solve a bigger one.
