Does this look like mold/mildew from old moisture intrusion in 1996 Hallmark pop-up truck camper?
I recently bought a 1996 Hallmark pop-up truck camper for about $4k and I’m trying to assess the condition realistically before I start tearing into things unnecessarily.
The camper has a fiberglass roof and overall actually seems structurally decent:
roof line is still straight
lift system works
interior wood looks surprisingly solid
canvas is intact with no major tears
However, there are some corners of the soft wall/canvas that have dark spotting/staining and evidence of past moisture intrusion. The roof seams/corners definitely need resealing and there are signs that water has gotten in at some point in the past.
I’m trying to determine:
does this mostly look like surface mildew/mold staining on the vinyl/canvas?
or does this look more concerning/active?
what would you recommend for cleaning/treatment?
any Hallmark-specific advice?
How hard is it to replace the canvas? Looks challenging.
So far I’m planning to:
reseal roof seams/corners
dry everything thoroughly
clean canvas gently with mild cleaner/vinegar
monitor for active leaks during rain
I’d appreciate honest opinions from people experienced with older pop-up truck campers.
