Corticosteroids for chronic sinusitis

Hello! I've had chronic sinusitis for about two years. I'm waiting for surgery through the public healthcare system, which keeps getting delayed. The ENT prescribed a corticosteroid nasal spray to use for two months before the operation, but it's been postponed for at least nine months. I use four sprays every twelve hours, but I think using corticosteroids for so many months isn't good. It affects my hormones, increases swelling, and even causes weight gain... It's true that using it continuously improves the drainage of pus, but I'm afraid of the side effects. Since I'm waiting for the surgery, I don't have contact with the ENT, so I'm asking if any of you have used this type of medication and what side effects you experienced? For me, it causes facial swelling, anxiety, and mood swings/hunger?I don't know if I should just stop and suffer with the sinusitis or what to do. Any advice would be helpful, thanks in advance! The spray i was prescribed is called Nasonex, I live in Spain.
