61 SG Standard - microphonic pickups?

Hi everyone. I’m having and issue with my 61 Standard. I took it to band rehearsal last night for the first time and a tinny sound from the drum kit was coming through my pickups, amp (a Victory Kraken) and into the whole band’s IEMs and our FOH mix. Not good!

After a bit of digging I’ve found the 61 BurstBuckers are not wax potted at the factory so that explains why they’re microphonic. I wouldn’t have expected it to be so bad, but that could be down to also using a high gain amp.

Anyway does anyone have a solution? Should I just get the Potted? Or perhaps any suggestions for a replacement set of pickups? I have 57 classics in my LP and they are amazing.

Hi everyone. Apologies if this has been asked and answered to death but I am seriously considering the Fender Tone Master Pro and wondering if it is a good fit for my use case.

I play in a hard rock band and a metal band, and then sometimes I dep for other bands of different genres. We play mostly small local venues (pubs, clubs, small festival shows).

Right now I use a tube amp and some effects. I have the amp going through an oversized 1x12 cab on stage but I use the amp's DI out for FOH and our IEM rig. The cab is purely for stage volume to help myself a bit but also for the audience, especially those in the front row in smaller venues where some stage volume going out to them helps massively. The other guitar player in my band uses a mic'd up amp and cab. I have a medium sized board with the effects I need.

I'm thinking about the TMP for a few different reasons which I'm sure most of you would be able to guess:

- Quicker load in/out

- Simpler physical setup without patch cables, power supplies, etc., and the issues that come with that.

- Fun factor, i.e. loads of amps and effects at my fingertips!

- Home use. This is where my amp is an issue because I can only ever use it with headphones at home because it's very loud. I can't play along with backing tracks at home which is frustrating, and recording iphone videos and song ideas is also a more complicated affair than I would like (i.e. because I need to hook it up to the speaker cab). I love that the TMP has bluetooth backing tracks and USB C for recording to iphone.

I like the look of the TMP mainly because of the UI, gapless preset switching, amazing I/O options, and the larger form factor (useful for footswitching with big boots on stage!). So I guess I am basically asking, would a TMP and the FR12 or maybe even FR212 be a good option for someone like me who plays mostly small venues? Is the FR12 decent for producing stage volume for the front row? Does it matter at all that the other player in my band uses a real amp?

Thanks!
