Could this create a bigger problem for H-1B workers than most people realize?

Reports suggest that several major employers, including Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, Microsoft, and Adobe, have been suspended from the PERM labor certification program.
But this isn't the same as banning these companies from operating in the US.

PERM is a key step in the employment-based green card process. For H-1B workers relying on their employers for green card sponsorship, any disruption could raise serious questions about timelines and what happens next.

What makes this particularly significant is that the reported list extends beyond Indian IT companies to major US tech employers as well. And for workers who've already spent years navigating the green card backlog, uncertainty at this stage could be especially difficult.

A few questions worth discussing:

  • What happens to employees whose PERM applications are already underway?
  • Could delays affect workers approaching the end of their H-1B eligibility?
  • Is this a temporary enforcement measure, or could it signal a broader shift in US employment-based immigration policy?

I'd particularly like to hear from people working at TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Cognizant, Microsoft, Adobe, and other affected companies.

If you're on an H-1B and waiting for your employer-sponsored green card, how are you looking at this development?

What are your thoughts on the October Visa Bulletin?

I’m curious to hear what everyone thinks. My feeling is that a significant part of the backlog could be related to certain countries being allowed to apply again.
If that decision is appealed and the ban is reinstated, we could potentially see PDs becoming current again within a few months.
But if everything stays as it is, could a two-year wait eventually become the new normal?

OPT is over, what should be the next plan?

Is anyone else feeling the pressure of the U.S. job market right now?

Visa applications are draining, OPT extensions are running out, and finding a job that actually sponsors you feels harder than ever. The market is already tough, and for international students, the visa timeline adds another layer of stress.

For those whose OPT or STEM OPT is ending soon, what’s your plan?

What's your biggest U.S. job search hack?

The current job market feels incredibly competitive. By the time I come across a role on LinkedIn, it already has 100+ applicants, and it's a similar story on Indeed, Glassdoor, and other platforms.
Apart from applying to newly posted jobs, are there any approaches that genuinely helped you stand out?

Agentic AI hiring is impossible

I have started learning agentic ai and have covered basics, like creating CLI chat bots, uses of tools, multi-tools, basic RAG and some other automations.

Will I be able to switch to a better job or not and all sorts of similar questions.
So can anyone help me clear this doubt and guide me better?
