Is the 2001 70 series Land Cruiser a good idea?

I was looking at the diesel 2001 70 series Land Cruiser imported from Australia and was wondering if it handles well in off road? It seems like it gets better gas mileage than the 4Runner and the part I especially like is that it combines a 5 speed manual with a powerful engine.

I am wondering though, will it need much work to be able to handle aggressive off road and how easily could I sleep inside the cab in -20 F and colder?

What should I get?

I’m looking for a vehicle that can handle semi intense off road/off grid (with or without upgrades) and still gets semi good gas mileage with the base engine and AWD/4WD drive train. I really like the 4Runner with the Tacoma as a second option and want to make sure I either get the v6 or v8. Gas prices are really killing me and I want to know if there’s any options I’m missing or forgetting shiny before I go all in on this.

Edit: I also want to be able to sleep in it because I do a lot of car camping in the winter on forest roads when I’m doing snowboard competitions and don’t want to freeze my butt off in negative 20F

Edit 2: also hoping for something reliable.
