I always was confused at the narrative of TOD and what It all meant. It just wasn’t clear at all to me.
Luckily with Joe’s story, Will and the band added 45 seconds of note card exposition on the lyric videos before each song so I can finally listen to the song without having to care about the lyrics.
I just don’t get it, I really feel betrayed.
It’s kind of amusing to see some of the backlash against Joe’s Story. I didn’t think it was that bad, I still prefer the original but it’s an interesting take. I find it a little funny how Will took out all of the cussing due to his new-found religious beliefs and spiritual journeys, along with how he wants to set a good example to the increasingly younger fanbase.
Intentionally or unintentionally it’s doing a pretty good job at weeding those same fans who are not emotionally mature enough to realize that Will isn’t doesn’t make his art to solely cater to their emotional sulking and their own angsty feelings while he well into his 30s.
He probably is doing this fanbase some good in the long-run.
