USMLE from a peripheral medical college

So I'm in a peripheral pvt college in india , I'm in 2nd year rn , and there are some 2 -3 seniors per batch who are probably gonna give the steps but I haven't heard about any research groups , or anything like that in our college , I also don't know if our proffs are approachable although in 1st yr they were really happy if someone shows interest in studying more. Also I want you guys to guide me on how exactly research , LORS , CV stuff is done cuz I'm genuinely clueless, I want to do usmle as my main priority but these college factors were making me think of neet pg more , please guide me on how exactly these things are done and if they can even be done in my college ?

USMLE in 2nd year

So I'll be starting my 2nd year in a few days , but I hadn't studied properly thruout my first year and studied only a few days before exams , so naturally my concepts aren't as strong. I've decided to both go with standard / indian author books for 2nd year subjects to get conceptual understanding and in case I'm unable to understand I'll use prepladder lectures which I have / or any other teacher which infind better for a subject. but idk what to do about 1st year subjects , from where to do those, especially anatomy and biochem, should I go with some revision videos or boards and beyond , or anything like that , pls guide me.

2nd year Non US IMG and USMLE

First year Non US IMG and USMLE

I'm currently in first year MBBS from a mid state private college. I haven't yet decided whether to persue USMLE or neet pg, but after university exams I will take goot time to decide and come to a conclusion. But if I do end up deciding on USMLE, and want to study for step 1 from start of 2nd year itself , how do I do it cuz I have only studied the first year concepts a month before the university exams , I haven't studied the whole year, how should I approach both first and 2nd year subjects in 2nd year for USMLE in my situation? Should I watch lectures of Boards and beyond where I'd watch all of anatomy , physio of a system and biochem lectures too or should I refer to some books that'll give me the necessary foundation of first year subjects. If i end up deciding on USMLE I know I will dedicate my next 4 years studying rigorously and doing those activities required for USMLE like research etc.

I'm in first year of MBBS rn, and gave NEET last year , but even thinking of those last few days gives me PTSD. I was soo miserable till 4th May 2025, and on this 4th of May I have my anatomy paper. Life after tomorrow isn't going to be perfect but it'll be much better than what it has been during your prep days , MBBS is hard but you'll enjoy it as I am so far. It's a normal life containing enjoyment , stress , exams , friendships , trips , and everything else which is miles better than preparing for an MCQ exam for 3 years.

ALL THE BEST

( Small tip: If you think a question is abnormally hard while it shouldnt be, ATTEMPT IT , it might be a controversial question and get your free marks )
