First year blues

first year at a big firm. my mid year reviews were very positive, but I had a partner meet with me yesterday to say that he was concerned about quality of my work product on a busy matter that I’m on with him. is this a bad a sign? I’ve heard formal meetings like this usually happen for the firm to keep a paper trail if they want to axe you.

first year need advice feel sidelined

I’m on a team that’s handling a very busy matter. I feel like I’m doing my best and have been trying to be proactive about getting assignments and contributing. I still feel like the partner seems annoyed by my presence, nitpicks on little mistakes I make, and has openly praised others for work that I’ve done in my presence. i feel like I should just avoid this partner in the future. but it still feels shitty and discouraging. advice?
