We all know new spots take time to warm up, but at what point do you officially cut your losses?

What's your hard rule for pulling a poorly performing machine from a location?

Do you set a strict deadline like 60 days below a certain

revenue target or do you keep tweaking the product mix until it work?

3‑month vending machine side hustle results + common mistakes I fixed

Been running two vending machines for 3 months, thought I’d share my real numbers plus the dumb mistakes I made when getting started.

Total startup was around $2,500 for used machines and stock. Almost wrecked my profits early on. First I put one machine in a office lobby, sales are very poor. Moved it to a factory break room with over 100 workers and daily sales instantly tripled.

I also stocked way too many items no one bought. Now I mostly stick to the popular snacks and drinks. And I restock every 5 days.

What legal steps do you really need for your first vending machine?

Newly started operators wonder if they need an LLC before buying their very first vending machine.

An LLC is not required to get started. You can legally run as a sole proprietor at the beginning.

There are still two must‑have documents almost everywhere: your local business license and a seller’s permit for sales tax.

Most operators only create an LLC once they scale up to multiple machines, purely for personal liability protection.

The most important thing for new vending machine beginners: don’t buy machines right away

I’ve spent quite some time learning and researching the vending machine business lately. One thought I keep coming back to is that many new people jump straight into purchasing machines before securing solid locations.

It seems so tempting to get your first unit as soon as possible, but without a good spot ready, you’re just left with equipment sitting idle with no income.

Curious to hear everyone’s real‑world experience. What mistakes did you wish you had avoided at the very beginning?

How long do you give a new location before deciding to pull your machine?

Monthly revenue numbers don’t tell everything.

How many months testing a site before you accept it’s not worth keeping? Do repeat customers weigh more than raw sales?

One of the most valuable skills for the next decade will be Human-Al Collaboration.

The future isn't about "Al replacing humans, " but rather "humans using Al replacing those who don't."

Prompt Engineering & Asking the Right Questions: The ability to express your needs to Al clearly, precisely, and logically will determine the ceiling of your productivity.

Al Workflow Automation: Integrating various Al tools directly into actual business

operations to build high-efficiency automated pipelines, ultimately lowering operating and labor costs.

Data Acumen & Critical Information Vetting: In an era of Al-generated content overload, the ability to discern truth from false info, evaluate potential risks, and act as the "final quality controller" for Al outputs is exceptionally crucial

Is the swimming center suitable for placing vending machines? 🤔

Near my home, there is a gym swimming pool as well as a swimming center. I wonder if I can make use of them. In the lobby of the swimming center, there is a beverage counter, which is not a vending machine but operated by staff (the location is not prominent and the business is poor). There are many children in the swimming center
