An app to calculate how much my stuff actually costs me per day

I had a simple idea and I'm trying to figure out whether it's actually useful or just something that sounds interesting.

The idea is an app where you add something you buy:

  • Take a photo
  • Enter the price
  • Enter the purchase date(from today backward)

Then it calculates something like:

an iPhone - $1,000, used for 730 days => $1.37/day

When you stop using it (sell it, replace it, break it, etc.), you hit "Stop" and it gives you the final cost per day and total usage time.

The idea is basically to answer: "Was this purchase actually worth it?"

I'm wondering:

1. Do you ever calculate the cost-per-day/use of things you own?
2. Would seeing this information change what you buy or how long you keep something?
3. What types of things would you track?
4. Does this sound genuinely useful, or is it just an interesting number that you'd look at once and forget about?

I'm currently not building/promoting anything yet - just trying to understand whether this is a problem people actually care about or feel interesting to use.

For me, it's a vitamin not pain killer idea but it's fun...

An app for collecting photos, videos, and birthday wishes from everyone at a party?

An app where people can upload photos, videos, and write a few messages to celebrate someone's birthday. Guests attending the party, or family members, can join and take photos to capture the moments, or leave a few wishes for the birthday person. Everything is saved and can be viewed together by everyone, or kept private, depending on the settings.
