I really feel old

So I want to preface this with the fact that last year was like my 23rd time seeing Taking Back Sunday live. They've been my favorite band since I was 13 and I turn 40 years old in November.

The part that makes me feel old besides you know the whole about to be 40 thing, is that last summer when I went to go see them live last, I took my daughter to it with me for her first concert. She absolutely loved it, and had a fantastic time, got her first band shirt for her first concert besides the shirt she stole from my collection.

When this new summer tour was announced I got excited because they're of course coming to Nashville where we live, and it's two days before my daughter's birthday so I was super stoked and told my kiddo. She was also very excited and was all in on going again for her early 12th birthday present.

Now here's the part that makes me feel old, she goes, "Mom, you are so totally aggressively emo. And don't embarrass me this time by getting too crazy."

Yeah so even at an amazing emo band concert I am still too emo lol.

I absolutely need to talk about Maeve Fly

First of all I am not done with this book. There are spoilers in this so please be warned.

However I am not done with this book so please do not spoil the ending for me.

So far this book has been absolutely intriguing for me. I love California, especially Los Angeles as I used to live in the area for a long time. So this love letter to one of my favorite cities is absolutely awesome to read about and from such a dark perspective.

I'm also one of those Disney loving adults that loves this dark book that also has this Disney love despite being dark. The strange crossover is oddly fantastic and subversive. I really love it and I kind of understand where she comes from with all of that.

But what I'm here to discuss is a part that I just got done reading that honestly is one of the best things I've ever read in my life. It's right after she kidnaps Liz and her boyfriend.

I cannot stay enough help incredibly imaginative it's striking a visual it is that she not only stole the man's mouth skiers but they cut off his actual ears and attached them to the mouse ears with beautiful bows to wake up his girlfriend. Like I cannot explain how easy it was to see this in my head and like I can't wait to see this truly on film if it ever comes to fruition.

I seriously want everyone's thoughts on this particular scene because it really solidifies this book as one of my favorites I've read so far this year and I've heard a ton of books already this year.

And if you have recommendations that are in a similar vein please feel free to let me know.
