Please Support Jason Watson

Below is a link to his gofundme page. For those who don’t know, Jason Watson protested in uniform to remove Donald Trump from office. This man will lose his career, pension, medical and it will be harder to find a job for the rest of his life. He is a real patriot. He has given everything just in the hope that our country could be saved. I donated $100. Please donate if you can. It’s not much but it’s what we can do for him.

Maybe I’m an idiot

I noticed that there are shortages in Russia and evidence of demand destruction in Asia. Like everyone else you wonder why price isn’t rising. The obvious answer and hence the title is that the government has capped the price of oil at around 70 or so for political reasons. This will lead to shortages everywhere but oil will be low and stay low for quite a while. Price is designed to incentivize greater production so everyone gets more of something but has to pay more however, this can also work in reverse where everyone pays less but gets less. Price ceilings are terrible economic policy right up there with tariffs because when the cap is removed generally price soars far higher and stays higher for much longer. Not sure where we will see shortages first in the west but Trump obviously believes his only chance of winning the midterms is to cap oil prices. When they lose anyway he may just resume the war in earnest or remove the cap entirely creating chaos in the markets. This is basically a war economy at this point
