Recommendations for Battery’s Lifespan

Hi everyone,

So I managed to get my first used car back in November 2025, being a 2018 Leaf SL. After having it for two months, my husband was noticing some issue with the car losing power quickly when in the freeway. I said that we need to take it to the dealership to complain about the issue instead of replacing with a new car. I was meaning to take it back to the dealership that I managed to get my car from back in January to complain of the condition of the car but due to the status of my job, I couldn’t go. We have decided to use the side streets for now.

Fast forward to last April, he called me to come to the nearest charging station he was charging after work. He had to come clean that he had to use two of his three AAA roadside assistance service to get the car to a charging station and I had to tell him why hasn’t he told me as soon he had to do the first one. He told me not to get mad at him, but he did believe that the car has lost battery cells and is the reason why it’s not driving like it should. He had stated that since the car was below 89,000 miles on the ODO and it was a 2018 model, it’s possible that the battery could be replaced. We were already in discussions about replacing it and see about the outcome of the payment of the car (bought the car on finance.), but him stating that made me rethink of wanting to replace it.

Fast forward to last week, since we took the car to a Nissan dealership instead of the dealership we got it from, they have stated that the battery is on warranty still and will be no charge with all the repairs and such. Now is waiting game to get it back. Big question is what to recommend to keep track on the car’s battery and ideas to get the battery to last longer for the car to last over 150k in the ODO? We are considering replacing the car in the future, since we want to start a family and willing to see if still worth it to get a newer model or go for a hybrid?

Has anyone been keeping track of where they are charging their Leaf? I been noticing something when I’m charging on EVgo comparing to other charging stations with CHAdeMO. EVgo has been doing longer charging comparing when I go to a Shell Charging Station.

I know this has nothing to do with the battery condition of my Leaf (that will be another post for me to explain) but wanted to see if anyone has noticed something similar).
