a romance/slice of life/comedy drama manhwa by Omyo, following Togeun and Sonagi, two friends who met ten years after and starting a studio life together.

As for the author, she's prolly best known as a webtoon artist for works like the stories of those around me or this particular work, but is also quite famous illustrator for children's books.

it's a fun read.

A highschool romcom manhwa by Hyuno, and a direct sequel to his previous work called 'A Man and Woman(남과여)', following Suwon and Hyorim. The work depicts a lot of realism in its characters and the setting which is Korea around 2006, along with a well structured storytelling with use of foreshadowings and payoff. Which means, on the other hand, one may need to overcome certain cultural and temporal barriers to fully enjoy it.

Otherwise, it's a good series.

and it's finally coming back on 11th October.

*Not too sure why the title was translated as star ginseng store, but the actual title is Byeolisamsyap(별이삼샴), or *23#, a code used to make calls with your ID hidden. You know. Kind of strategy a cute little coward would use to contact their crush.

An ongoing manhwa by Samchon set in a world where monsters, or almost omnipotent beings called unfathomables who keeps humans as pets.

Just like Samchon's other works, story unfolds in rather episodic manner with slice of life genre based visual flows. At the same time, it's a work that brings up author's typical grotesque aeathetic in the most forefront manner shaping both characters and plots.

A sports manhwa by Lee Eun-Jae (author or 'shut up and dance' and 'monster') based on table tennis, following Han Lee-Yeon, a very talented sportsman yet extremely arrogant, where the work depicts the idea of talents, effort, ambition and resilience.

It's a kind of manhwa that uses direction where the flow, movement and pacing stays very coherent to the vertical scrolling format.

An occult based mystery thriller manhwa by Lee Dae-Han and Hwang-Yang, following Mu-Myeong who moved into a mysterious village called Gwichon Village, where the village's secrets gradually begin to reveal.

A comedic fantasy action manhwa by Mi-Ae (shortened for michin aebullae, aka crazy caterpiller), following Elsa, a girl with a strange power in a world where alien rule over the earth as god.

Despite the fact that comedy is a big part of the work, the story as a whole is quite dark, and explores different themes. Against a backdrop of class discrimination under a religious order, it examines religion as a notion itself, its relationship with faith, one's innate tendency toward the religious, determinism and existentialism, ideas and paradise etc.

Anyway, it's a good read.

A romance manhwa by jongdal and doyo, following 3 main characters, 1 girl and 2 boys, living in a countryside.

It does take a form of quite typical shojo set up, though it probably is not a good idea to approach it purely as a romance.

For one thing, the series ended prematurely (as the author could not earn enough) and the romance side of the story does not develop all that heavily. However, instead of romance, the story serves as more of coming of age story, over the context of Korea's issues associated with rural areas, such as aging and shrinking communities after rapid economic growth, the steady disapperance of younger generation, marriga and demographic problems, difference in values between rural and urbans etc, with each character works as mirror character to each other.

anyway, it's a decent read.

A romance manhwa by Na Yoon-Hee (whos have written some very good series like blind garden heartfelt andante, whalestar etc), set in Rome during the Flavian Era, featuring characters whos desires, lust, chastity and passions constantly collide and interwine.

it's a good read.

A fantasy action manhwa by Sakk, following Gwang-Nam who is moved to the netherworld after his death.

Pushing its vertical scrolling format in its action sequence to its extreme, large cast of impactful characters and an incredibly distinct artstyle with excellent dessin, i don't think calling s1 as a revolutionary is not an exaggeration.

on the other hand, s2 is pretty much dogshit so dont bother reading it. you actually dont have to as it's a prequel anyway (and it was the season that actually caused Naver Webtoon to push its content moderation as a whole).

now the main news is that, its s3 has finally begun its serialization, and interestingly, it is a monthly release now. As a monthly release is a new thing in Webtoon (at least as far as i am aware) will be interesting to see how this affects a future serialization model.

A post apocalyptic horror manhwa by Cho Seok, one of the most iconic figures in manhwa- thanks to his sound of the heart series - where the world is now filled with huge fish that eats humans. Knowing Cho Seok has a very distinct comedic grammer, this work essetially translates that into horror.

A completed scifi mystery manhwa by Moon Ji-Hyun, which begins with a student suddenly going missing and the strange memos he left behind. It is a work that dives deep into existentialism and epistemology, and is one of the more acclaimed sci-fi manhwas, having even won a sci-fi comic of the year.

It sets in a fantasy based world, centred around the sibling bond, with a light touch of obssessive romance and mystery, and the factional struggles within the kingdom of Cheonho.

A debut work from Manmulsang, following Sujin, a girl from countryside who moves to a big town, meeting with new people and strange events that unfold around them.

it's a good read.

A completed fantasy romance manhwa by Bionhu, following Netsy, a dragon known as the one who brought disaster 300 years ago, and Abwen, a man who looks like her past lover.

decent read.

A romcom series by jandilolppang (current author of heartaching), following Ido, an introvert girl who almost acts like a robot, and Sei, a transfer student who turns out to be a robot with a lost memory.

despite having a rushed ending, it does portray nicely concerning character growth, which I believe to be author's biggest strength. Which means, if you look at this primarily as a coming of age series, it does hold up quite well.

anyway, it's a decent read.

In response, the remnants of humanity begin replacing their own bodies with electronic tactical weaponry, organized into a military force known as the Janissaries.

I guess you could say it's a story about those who dream of restoring humanity even as they cast aside their own flesh and minds, taking bones—the most primal remnants of the human body—as a deeply symbolic motif in their attempt to reclaim what it means to be human.

A ongoing shounen fantasy action manhwa by Ujudol, set in a Joseon Dynasty (mixed with folklore), following Bongsan, a mask dancer who sets out to find a human mask sought by Saphung Black Tiger, hoping to stop his plot to overthrow the kingdom. Along the way, he becomes involved with a special troop that specializes with hunting tigers with magical powers.

and just for a little cultural context, a Korean mask dance was something that gave ordinary people a way to turn hardship, resentment and social oppression into satire and laughter. So just like any other typical shounen battle series, these fighters use a supernatural force called Changwi, vengeful spirits of those killed by tigers which are sealed into a weapon. Upon usage, they tend to prey on their wielder's emotional wounds, so many characters are defined by some sort of grief, which ultimately ties back to Bangsan and his idea of sorrow and laughter.

Anyway, it's decent read.
