Fixed income fund losing money, what should I do?
Happy to see everyone killing it on the NSE 💪 👊!
Unfortunately, i had to liquidate my portfolio as I needed the funds for renovations but if the market dips, I’ll be back like the terminator 😂
you can view my portfolio in earlier posts .
Anyways, to the topic on hand.
I have a sanlamAllianz MMF, fixed income and balanced fund accounts.
I was reviewing the performance of my portfolio with my financial advisor and he mentioned that my fixed income fund lost money due the govt of Kenya raising interest rates and the funds are tied to the bond market , bla, bla bla 😂
Basically, in January , I got in at 7.21units, today it’s 7.19 units . So if I liquidated my current position of 860,000, I would lose 47,000 .
So he advised me to hold as this is a long term play, two year . I wanted to liquidate it to the balanced fund which is tied to stocks, which is performing well.
My next question here is should I just count my losses , liquidate and seek higher growth elsewhere .
