Is Xanax better temporary option for me

I had injuries to neck shoulder and elbow with a lot of nerve pain and was put on 900 mg gabapentin daily. Been through surgeries and medical procedures and nerve pain is gone (not all pain but nerve pain) and I slowly tapered down to 300 mg day it will take me another month of reducing to be done. Recent Incidental findings showed I have 2 types of cancer and I’m at the early stage of figuring it all out. I feel anxiety, panicking, nauseated, outer body, and not sleeping. I’m living in shock. Should I continue tapering and ask for Xanax and use as a PRN. I’m sincerely overwhelmed.

61y/o female, 55 days ago I had subacromial decompression surgery, a bicep tenotomy, bone filed down, and a collagen patch inserted. had immobility for 6 months prior to shoulder surgery due to misdiagnosis, changing doctors, and then waiting for surgery., then the two months immobility after surgery. I have atrophy in my shoulder muscles, my entire arm and my hand. Additionally, I have suffered with chronic tendinosis of the lateral extensor tendon(tennis elbow) a partial tear and bone marrow edema in the elbow. All on one arm. My surgeon says when my shoulder is stable enough, we will do the elbow surgery about 5 to 7 months out. I have atrophy and I cannot actively lift my arm yet despite the surgery being eight weeks ago This is very frustrating because it is complex and there’s no protocol. Sometimes my physical therapist is way too aggressive because she discounts the atrophy and the elbow pain. There is no way out, but through, they’re just is no compass for all this. Has anyone suffered atrophy and had to deal with that and shoulder physical therapy?
