I’m reading the most recent release, and not understanding the layout property is really starting to bug me.

The land has Lily’s House, the BnB, and the tea shop.

The BnB has a veranda, and there’s the door to the kitchen. The dinning room faces the water.

There’s also the Goodwell property and the cliffs.

I understand the tea shop is closer to the main road, that it comes first on the driveway.

But where is everything else in relation to each other? Does anyone have a better mental picture of this?

This was originally written for the other subs that popped up yesterday evening. The final update at the end brings us to the current affairs moving forward. I support this post being locked to let the conversation settle and move on, if desired.

How did we get here?

I’m sure you’re confused. What happened to r/CozyMystery (from here on out called “the sub”)? Why was I (possibly) banned? Where did everyone go? Why does this sub exist? Why are there multiple new subs?

On May 24, 2026, late in the evening US pacific time, this happened:

User Tex Non Scripta (from here on out called “Tex”) became the new mod of the sub and made some new rules. She also set forth to banning any previous dissenters to her prior content, including myself.

What was her previous content, you ask? I’m glad you did.

Approximately 2 months before, Tex, according to her comments a septuagenerian inspiring writer, made a few threads in the sub about her writing, and her use of collaborating with AI on said writing.

The sub, having a long history of being anti-AI, did not receive these posts as intended; leading us to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/CozyMystery/s/itb1UkQxKj (Note, this post would later get myself and many others banned based on our replies when Tex became moderator).

Following this, Tex created a few of her own subs, dedicated to writing with AI, writing cozy mysteries with AI, and AI-friendly cozy mysteries in general.

Unsurprisingly, none of these subs have gathered much attention or posts, other than from Tex herself.

Then, Tex apparently found an opportunity. The main CozyMystery sub had apparently been unmoderated for some time. Using this, Tex gained moderator ship from the Reddit admins, and changes were made.

What happened next?

First, r/CozyMysteryNoAI was created by u/OneBadJoke, which gave us a landing space to regroup.

u/matsie also created r/RealCozyMystery after that to give us an option for a sub that does not mention AI.

What happens next, reader? Stay tuned, this story is still developing.

Update:

On Monday, May 25th, Tex apparently couldn’t handle the backlash anymore. She appointed two new mods. Both pro-AI. One, named Decent Solution many assumed was a Tex alt, another named Afgad, a moderator of the WritingWithAI sub.

Afgad allegedly suggested Tex step down, and allegedly she did, and the following threads took place, as well as those of us banned by Tex were unbanned. For some time, Decent remained and was still moderating comments. During or before this “AI slop” was added to the hate speech filter.

Update 2:

As of Monday afternoon, Tex and the two pro-AI mods she brought in have all removed themselves. CozyMystery has 3 new mods, applied and voted from within the community, and restoration and moving forward is taking place.
