M1 Max vs M3 Pro
Hi,
Currently, I’m using an M1 Pro with 16 GB of RAM for daily coding. Overall, it’s still okay, but sometimes I notice that the 16 GB of RAM is a bit limiting.
I have the option to buy:
- MacBook Pro M1 Max, 32 GB RAM, 10-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 1 TB SSD — around $1,350
- MacBook Pro M3 Pro, 36 GB RAM, 11-core CPU, 14-core GPU, 512 GB SSD — around $1,670
Both with 14" screen, connected to external 34" monitor
Which one would be the better option for the next 2–3 years?
I’ll mostly use it for programming, connecting it to my iPhone, web browsing, and occasionally some basic 3D modeling in Fusion 360.
I keep my laptop on my desk 99% of the time, so battery life isn’t a priority.
Which one would you choose and why?
