The Mod Team hopes everyone has been well and is having fun at their own pace with the new update.
Today's announcement brings to you dear little snails four brand new flairs!
The first one is Mochi's Merch! You're part of the creators' program or have won a prize during one of the contest and you'd like to show your cute MLT merch? Then that's the flair for you. Discussions on how merch was obtained are welcome but to avoid these posts becoming recruitment campaigns spammed on the sub, you are allowed one post per month under this flair. We also ask you to move conversations about referrals to DMs for the same previous reason. This sub aims to remain a creative space first and foremost where everyone can have fun which is what motivated the Mod Team's decision on this.
The second flair is Shell-made, a fun flair to showcase your fanarts, sculptures or knitting (or whatever else really, surprise us!) of characters, items or suites from the game. We've had a few people drawing their characters and we wanted to offer a proper space for fanmmade content about MLT by MLT players. As always, rules of the sub apply here as well – particularly the no AI one. We're looking forward to checking your creations!
Next, we have Snailock Holmes! We know a lot of you often look to find specific items and to help distinguish your posts and allow you guys to peruse for certain items, we thought a dedicated flair would be appreciated. If you can, share a screenshot of the item you're looking for — avoid using screenshots of the weekly contest entries so that your post remains up — and you're good to go. The sub's detectives will have an answer for you pretty fast!
The last one is Snail Shortcuts for all your decoration tricks and hacks when it comes to things like forced perspective, optical illusions when decorating your houses. You can post videos for these or use multiple screenshots to explain the steps in recreating your trick. If they're simple enough, they can be in a single picture.

Hello little snails!
After much deliberation among the mods, we have decided on the framework we feel is best going forward that involves photos with heavy edits and filters. To get caught up on the matter, you can read about it here. These posts will be allowed on the subreddit within certain parameters, which we will explain below.
The first parameter is that the editor you're using must be approved. These are the currently approved photo editors:
They are mostly free, with the exception of procreate and Clip Studio Paint, but these are highly recommended tools and some you may even use on your phone if you don't have access to a computer or a tablet.
We will be adding more to this list as we get new photo editors introduced to us and as we do some digging. If you use a photo editor that is not currently on this list and would like it investigated, please message the mods through ModMail before uploading your photo so you don't have to go through the hassle of having your posts removed.
Secondly, as we believe the subreddit's main goal is to inspire decorating and house decor, as it appears directly in-game, we will be asking designers who edit their photos to please include the original unedited game screenshot in the image carousel (the place you add photos you can swipe through).
The mods would greatly prefer it to be the first photo, but as long as the unedited screenshot is in the carousel and not in the comments, you will be compliant with this change. This will help your fellow designers and the mods by giving a baseline for comparison. Because this is a real game we all play, it's extremely nice to show the layout as it appears in game to spark creativity and manage expectations when designing your own layouts.
An addendum to this second rule is we will be banning and removing any edits (i.e. lighting or color grading) for all decorprints. Again, we be believe the nature of the decorprints is not only inspiration, but to be copied in their own layouts, so it can be misleading if the decorprint is heavily edited with dynamic lighting or harsh contrast that is just not present in the game. If you wish to edit the lighting of your decorprint, you must add it to a regular layout in-game, and when uploading the photo to this subreddit, you must include the unfiltered photo in your image carousel. Basically, if you're giving out a code to copy, it can't be edited.
Now to give some clarity for those curious, the reason for the above list of editors are approved is because they don't use any AI-enhanced effects and therefore will not leave any AI artifacts within your photos. Think of AI artifacts as those visual flaws or errors in the fine details of photos that look warped or "melted". How it specifically relates to your photo edits of My Leisure Time is that AI-enhanced edits or filters physically alter the pixels of the furniture and ornaments of the game, making them look off. We use the in-game items as a reference for what they are supposed to look like and frankly if it looks like AI, we will be treating it as AI. We are taking these measures to give designers opportunities to edit their layouts and create as they desire without their posts constantly being taken down and therefore discouraged from posting and engaging in the community here on Reddit.
Reddit has a very specific culture that is unique to the platform and trying to keep as much AI off of our subreddits has been a recent consideration hitting many communities. We appreciate you all bearing with us as we make and navigate these real-time updates with the least impact possible and also helping us finding more photo editors. We also recognize (and appreciate) that the vast majority of snails don't really do edits at all, so we appreciate any and all for taking their time to read the post fully, even if it doesn't pertain to you directly.

In attempts to keep AI off the subreddit, the Mod Team has run into a surprising and worrisome discovery. Many photo editors, we are realizing, utilize AI to make the photo effects themselves.
This is isn’t all photo editors, as a few free editors we have been able to vet don’t utilize AI effects, but many free editors do (namely Canva and the latest version of Snapsneed).
Most alarming, it seems the built-in photo editor in smart phones also utilize AI-enhanced photo effects, and if the effect is applied heavy enough, will leave AI artifacts in the photo itself.
This is a red flag for the mods, as we verify your posts visually. In other words, if it looks like AI, we will treat it as AI, remove the post and ask for you to reupload without the edit as per rule 3.
Since this is a growing concern of ours we’re going to put in place a temporary ban on all edits posted on the subreddit until we can verify enough free photo editors and distribute a list of safe to use editors to users on the sub.
We want you all to be able to share your builds without getting caught up in repeat removals for something none of us even knew was happening. We ask for your comprehension and your support and if you are currently using a photo editor (desktop or app version) and you want to be sure, send us a Modmail or ask below and we'll add it to our list of the ones we'll check and vet.
