Need Help please!!!
2006 Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 lost power while riding and now won't start
Looking for some advice.
The bike was running normally got to a gas station turn it off then it didnt want to turn back on. Then had to bump-started it going down a hill and it ran fine for a few minutes. Then it gradually started losing power, felt weaker and weaker, and eventually shut off while I was riding.
Current symptoms:
- Dash powers on normally.
- Neutral light comes on.
- Fuel pump primes and makes the normal "zzz" sound when the key is turned on.
- Dash lights dim when I press the starter button.
- No click from the starter relay that I can hear.
- Starter motor does not crank.
- The FI light comes on while I hold the starter button and goes away when I release it.
- Headlights are not working.
- The side stand switch hasn't worked properly for a long time, but the bike always started and ran normally before.
- Battery was reported to have good voltage, but I don't know the exact reading or whether it was tested under load.
Because the bike gradually lost power before shutting off, I'm wondering if this could be related to:
- Bad stator
- Bad regulator/rectifier
- Battery failing under load
- Bad ground/earth connection
- Main power connection issue
- Starter relay
Has anyone experienced similar symptoms on a 2005-2006 ZX-6R 636? What would you check first?
