Before I say this, I love Dr Stone and think it is one of the best animes ever made.

With each season, I personally think that the first few episodes or so are the weakest ones. Have thought about this recently on my rewatch.

It takes me a while to get into each season, after that I can easily binge it (not necessarily saying that this is the best way to watch it!).

I nearly didn't end up watching Dr Stone for this reason. I am very glad however, that I gave it another chance. What I will say though, is the recaps are done well, and feel very natural. Also, I think I see what they were doing beginning of season 4. They, rather than going straight onto getting on with the mission, wanted to have a bit of fun with it.

Just wondered what everyone else thought. If anyone felt the same?

SPOILERS AHEAD! Up to and including season 4.

I have seen Dr Stone in English dub. I have watched some bits in Japanese to compare it. I personally prefer the Eng dub, some of the Japanese dub is good. I do sometimes watch anime in Japanese, and it can be better. I feel that the voice actors for Eng dub put so much effort in. Senku's va Aaron Dismuke seems to make more sense as I think he sounds younger. Senku is only 15 at the beginning of Dr Stone. Gen's Japanese va is very good. I think though the Eng one is funnier, and is better with the emotional moments too.

The voice actor for Xeno in Japanese I feel varies. Sometimes good, other times not so much. The Eng voice actor for him is so good. It is very likely he's probably voiced a character you've seen in something else (same with Aaron Dismuke). Eng va I think is more sarcastic, more emotional and just generally more dramatic. When they are depetrified after the first time, there seemed to be more under the surface with what he was saying.

Again the Japanese voice actor for Stanley I don't think is as good. There are some bits that are voiced well. The Japanese one at times seemed flat. The Eng va seemed sassy at times, again sarcastic. The bit where Xeno corrects Stanley when we first see him, there is more sass and more of an edge I feel. Also, when Stanley says to Gen about having a lot of questions. The way he says it makes me feel invested, want to learn more about the character. The 'alas' bit and also when he identifies Senku, unsure if there is jealousy there.

I didn't think the Japanese va for Nikki brings as much emotion as the Eng va, when she puts up her hand against the gun after the ceasefire. Maya, Luna and Carlos I thought Japanese voice actors were very good, as good as or maybe better than the Eng dub.

What do you think? Do you prefer the English or Japanese? Or do you like them equally for different reasons? Are there any other dubs that you like for Dr Stone?

With Dr Stone ending, what's next? Also that is the name of one of my favourite songs on the soundtrack but anyway...

Are you going to immediately re watch Dr Stone (if you haven't already!). Are you going to try watching a new anime?

I want to personally give it a breather before going back to season 1. I am going to te watch the last episode though.

Is anyone struggling to 'get excited' for the last episode?

Usually every week I really look forward to the next episode.

However, as I know it is the last one I don't really want it to arrive and for it to end.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Is it just me or when Xeno and Stanley wake up from petrification, he looks so natural just carrying a spear. Just effortless. Weird considering he usually carries guns. I suppose he did mess up those wolves early on just to prove he was bad ass.

Like how many times are they going to separate Xeno and Stanley?

When they were first petrified, they had Xeno's statue washed away from Stanley's.

They had Xeno taken hostage (although there was a big gap in time between this).

​

They were reunited for like two seconds before the second petrification.

​

Then Xeno was brought back and Stanley was petrified for another five years. I also noticed Stanley seemed to hear their conversation and said something like that's fine by me. But when Senku was in the rocket he couldn't hear anything. So not sure how petrification affects hearing.

If that wasn't enough for you, now Stanley is in space.

If they separate them again I swear I will be throwing things across the room.

Very conflicted about the final episode. On the one hand, excited and want to know what happens. On the other hand, it's the last ever and I don't want it to end.

I need some revival fluid as I keep dying from how attractive Xeno is! I just can't.

Thought that earring looked pretty good on him haha!

Also very jealous of Stanley, I can understand why he wanted to stroke his face.

Also weirdly jealous of Gen as he got up close and personal with him too. He scared me in that episode, but in a good way.

Episode 33 with the eyebrow raised haha.

I know some people hate him or love to hate him. I love him so want to take a minute to appreciate him.

He is smart, stylish, cautious, elegant, conflicted, and sometimes kind. Hear me out. Loyal to Stanley, always backing him up but also boasting about him. Doesn't hurt that Xeno is hot either.

​

He is more than happy to teach Science to anyone who asks (Senku, Stanley, Suika) and help them out. This is not always for his own benefit. He wants to help people who are maybe good at science reach their potential as he is so passionate about science. Chrome thinks about something about the ship (can't remember what) and Xeno and Senku admit ghey wouldn't have thought of that so Chrome as well. Also voting for the two way rocket. Team player.

The reason he went evil is purely because he was sick of the people in charge being so controlling of him. If they had given him the time of day and let him do science experiments he may not have even been an issue.

He is thoughtful. When they found the corn, there just happen to be tobacco plants there, even though he hates Stanley's habit he knows he needs it. Then also makes the cigarettes for Stanley for space. Not just Stanley, but also Senku. Giving him that moment in space.

Who thought they were going to meet Why man? I was so ready for it.

Who do you think has had one of the best redemption arcs and why?

Difficult one. Who is your favourite Dr Stone character?

Who do we prefer? This can be based on looks, or what they say. Or how they behave towards each other. Pretty much anything really. My fave is Dr Xeno for many reasons. One is the English Dub voice actor. Elegant.
