Level 2 - 28 days of dedicated

Hi everyone

I'm about 28 days from my Level 2 exam and been on dedicated for about a week or so. My daily schedule has been doing 120 Q of truelearn a day, reviewing them throughly and doing anki on things I'm getting incorrect. I keep a big word document that I can brain dump all my incorrects into when I'm reviewing.

My plan is to take a COMSAE at the end of this week to see where I'm at. I've heard they're not that representative however so I'm trying not to put TOO MUCH pressure on it.

I took a truelearn "pre-test" that our school provided for us when I started dedicated. I scored a 69% (this is not the assessment, it was a 176 Q quiz they hand picked truelearn questions from) I'm not sure how this translates. I reset the truelearn level 2 bank as I had done some questions for assigned quizzes and such through school. I've currently done about 900 questions of truelearn and am averaging a 69% on my timed blocks. I plan to continue to do 120 Q a day, keep up with my anki and review OMM with the help of the green book + dirty medicine. I don't plan on doing Uworld as I had finished it during the year when studying for the COMAT's.

I wanted to get some advice from people about my prep. I know that I still have a month to go and can make changes to how I'm approaching my prep. I am not a great test taker by any means and have scored extremely average on all of my COMAT's (ranging from 85-100). I plan to apply EM and would LOVE to score around a 550.

I honestly can't really tell where I'm at considering all of the NBOME exams that we're provided are considered not good predictors.

Please gimme all your tips and tricks and things you think helped you on your exam!

Good luck to everyone studying :)

Level 2 Tips for a DO student NOT taking STEP 2.

I'm a current DO MS-3 about 50 days away from taking level 2. My COMAT scores haven't been the greatest. I'll drop them here:

Surgery: 85

Peds: 85

FM: 90

OMM: 91

EM: 94

Psych: 99

OBGYN: 95

IM: TBD my last COMAT

My current strategy for COMAT's have been doing Uworld and then switching over to COMQUEST about 4-5 days before the exam. I mostly am able to finish Uworld with the exception of a few COMAT's where there were over 500+ questions. I finish most if not all of COMQUEST as well. Obviously, for the volume of questions I'm doing I'm not seeing amazing results. I noticed a pretty big score increase (from PEDS to the remainder of my comats) when I started doing ANKING cards. I had no strategy for these except unsuspending about 75 a day until my COMAT exam for that specific shelf.

That being said, I'm about to start studying for Level 2. I'm applying EM and ideally would love to score 550+. I know my COMAT scores aren't amazing and I would love to hear from MS-4's + who didn't do amazing on COMAT's and what they 'fixed' and how they approached dedicated. My current plan is to finish up Uworld for my IM comat and start grinding out Truelearn for Level 2. I do not plan on taking Step 2.

Is it worth it to re-do UWorld? Should I focus on just grinding out truelearn and comquest? Are CMS forms worth my time? What are the best strategies for someone just taking Level 2?

LEVEL 2 Tips- 9.5 weeks out.... horrible test taker

Hi all!

I'm a current MS-3 about 80 days away from taking level 2. My COMAT scores haven't been the greatest. I'll drop them here:

Peds: 85

OMM: 91

EM: 94

I definitely find that my scoring on practice questions is significantly higher than when I take the COMATs. Not sure if this is due to anxiety, second guessing etc. I figure that a lot of people have this issue and would love to hear what worked for you all. I really struggled during Level 1 dedicated and am trying not to have a repeat of that.

Any advice would be appreciated. Just hoping to do my best. Good luck to the rest of you also studying for Level 1/2/3. We got this.

Third year medical student here- on the second day of my GI rotation to close out the year. Yesterday was my first day, I was sent an address by my clinical coordinator and a report time of 9:30 am. To my surprise, I show up on the first day and ask two medical assistants where the doctors office is. They say... he's not here.... he's at the hospital. The hospital that the doctor is at is NOT the hospital that is "sponsoring my rotation" and I have no way of getting into said hospital and no badge. I proceed to email the clinical coordinator and the resident and sit in the parking lot waiting for a response. 30 minutes go by-no reponse, I'm thinking I'll just go home and hopefully someone will respond by the end of the day to clarify where I'm supposed to be. I walk into my apartment and get a call from the resident saying to "report" to my BASE hospital which I do have access to and that the doctor will be there in 30 minutes. I rush over. I've been driving for about an hour at this point. I walk into the hospital and settle into the resident lounge. He tells me the attending will not be here till 3pm. After an hour of sitting in silence with this resident and absolutely no "onboarding" he tells me I can "go home if you want I guess...." and says he doesn't know when the attending will be here.

Today is my second day. I was told by the resident to meet the attending at the hospital at 10 am. It is currently 10:25 am while I'm writing this. The nursing staff told me that I should "hope the attending is here by 12". I'm sitting alone in the resident lounge. I texted the resident. He said to "figure out when the first procedure is..." I asked the charge nurse who said "whenever he gets here"

I know I'm not the first person to experience this. But the lack of communication, no one knows who I am, no one knows where I'm supposed to be. Wasting hours of my time siting in a room, hours driving. I can only imagine what this month will be like. It's only my second day and the dread and the anxiety I had walking into this rotation today ALREADY. I actually feel like I'm being pranked. Is this normal for a GI elective or??

EDIT: STILL HERE and no word from the attending.... should I STAY OR GO??
