Hi everyone,

I’m a CS student looking to get involved in research for the first time, and I came across Prof. Vybihal’s lab (Prometheus project / robotics / AI).

I was wondering if anyone here has experience working or volunteering in that lab, or in CS research more generally at McGill, and could share what the process is like.

Specifically, I’m curious about:

• how students typically get involved (cold email, interviews, reaching out to grad students, etc.)
• how responsive labs usually are when you contact them
• what the onboarding process looks like for undergrads
• and what the day to day experience is like once you’re in

I’m mainly trying to get a realistic picture of what it’s like starting out in CS research here.

Any insight would be really appreciated!
