Caught this Calico off Catalina yesterday. I’m new to fishing and he’s the biggest I’ve landed so I wanted to give him a measure. What’s the proper way to measure fish length? Thanks guys.
I’m looking for suggestions on a reel upgrade for catching yellowtail.
I’m a beginner fisherman living on Catalina Island, CA. I’ve been able to land fish like halibut, barracuda, and bonito, but I think my beginner combo setup could be too weak for a yellowtail. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I have a pro deal with Penn and a budget of around $300 for the reel. I’m buying a 20-40lb spinning rod from Penn off by buddy and have access to a kayak and a small boat on the front side of the island. Thanks guys.
