AITK for refusing a discount on furniture I didn't order?
We ordered a dining table back in June with a 7 week lead time and I picked the oak finish because our kitchen is quite dark, and I sat in that showroom going back and forth between two samples for about 40 minutes before I committed to it.
It got delivered last Thursday while I was at work and my husband signed for it without opening the box, because the delivery guys were in a rush and he was on a call. I got home and it's the walnut, which is nearly black next to the one I picked.
I called them Saturday morning, so 2 days after, and was told the return window is 48 hours from delivery and that it had been signed for as received, so as far as they're concerned it was accepted. I said we accepted a BOX, we didn't accept a table, and could they just send out the oak one.
They told me oak is 9 weeks out now and offered me 120 dollars off to keep the walnut. I said no thank you, I would like the table I ordered and paid for, and the woman on the phone told me that most customers are happy with a goodwill gesture and that she'd note that I had declined it, in a tone. I have the order confirmation in writing with oak on it.
My husband thinks I should take the 120 because it's a nice table and we'd be sitting here until November otherwise, and he's right about the waiting, it would honestly drive me mad. I just keep walking past it and seeing the wrong table.
Am I being a Karen over a table?
