Normalize having hobbies that you don't feel pressured to turn into side hustles. I only stream twice a week. I struggle to keep up with editing. I don't do much long form YouTube content. I don't optimize when I stream or for how long. I don't research which games I'm playing to maximize viewership. What I DO is I have fun with my community.
And I've made it this far. So I'm doing something right.
Other hobbyists out there - you are valid! Keep it up!
Sounds like a fairly persuasive argument to me. Asking chat for tuber merch ideas has definitely sparked some inspiration.

I never want anyone in my community to feel like they have to apologize for having lives. There's no fancy, eye-catching editing here, no constantly moving graphics or fun sound effects, so maybe this flops. But I believe the people that need to hear this will.
And that's enough. Self-care and real life ALWAYS come first. And as I told a close friend recently, people being in my streams every waking minute means nothing if it contributes to them not being in my life in a couple years.
Vtube Studio has the incredibly useful feature of being able to trigger toggles for a vtuber model based on a camera picking up certain hand gestures.
Which is great! Until you give that capability to a streamer who can't stop talking with their hands.
It was a lovely Sunday night when Pooka sat down to catch up on some editing. The first task was to record some bits for a funny skit edit they had planned - simple enough. Only when they played the recordings back, there was no sound. That's when they realized... none of their audio mixes were on the recording track.
In fact, their entire last stream had no audio on the recording track. And with that discovery came another horrifying realization: they would have to actually scrub a Twitch VOD to save their precious content. It was a fate so depressing that they turned to the self-soothing coping mechanism of making an entirely new piece of content making fun of their own mistake in order to procrastinate. A bold strategy - let's see if it pays off for them.
Chat is wild for this one. An old Twitch friend just wanted to see the new model. My chat showed them more of the model than they asked for.
My greatest accomplishment that day was finishing my coffee without once forgetting it existed while it was sitting right in front of me on my desk and letting it go cold!
Not that I'm above microwaving it, mind you. It's never too warm for hot coffee.
Letting my chat introduce me to new people when I get a raid is certainly an interesting choice. Do you think it's working out for me?
Ok my little Hornet "cosplay" for my model during my Silksong playthrough has me kind of wanting to add horns to my model for real.
Probably goat horns to stay roughly in line with actual Pooka folklore.

What a day for a bunch of twitch servers to go down. I have to cancel for work 3 times in 2 weeks and once work is finally somewhat settled this happens.

The schedule is more like guidelines than actual rules...
Having a full time job and being a content creator on the side is rough but we're doing our best out here. And it is absolutely true that discipline is more important than motivation, especially with limited time to spend on stream maintenance, editing clips, and trying to make long form videos on top. It's worth it though!
