Thoeries on Angelina

I love this song so so so much and I once saw her make a comment saying, "this song goes deeper than yall think" and so naturally, my brain went into obscure overdrive. So I'm wanting to know what everyone believes this song is touching on?

In a literal sense it sounds like she's talking about somebody called Angelina. But my brain has thought and now become stuck on the idea of it being a personification of perhaps a mental health related thing (naming your depression/anxiety) or perhaps an old version of herself that she's tried to overcome? Now that I've thought of this, I can't unhear it and I connect with it so deeply.

It feels like a song written about someone whose former, darker version of themselves or their depression has spent years trying to take over them and stop them from thriving and being the best version of themselves / "to turn into something that you wanted."

They've found it hard to detatch from it / "I'd be lying if I told you I thought I could end it."

"You were my own worst enemy. I am dying when I'm with you." Self explanatory.

It sounds like they've tried many times to overcome this, but eventually fallen back again / "I burned all your stuff again"

There's been many moments of accepting this version of themselves, thinking it's who they are and who they're always going to be, even though they find it terrifying / "I'm just tryna keep up with you. The truth is I'm actually afraid of you."

If it's depression, it can lead to very intense and dark places. It could very well be the thing that kills them / "When you reach your final form, you could get away with murder."

In the moments of self-reflection, they realise how much they've actually overcome. Although they've taken control over a lot of it or evolved into a whole different person, they still fear that old version may poke it's head at some stage. But so far, they've not allowed that to happen. / "I haven't been taking your call, 'cause there hasn't been one at all. And I feel better."

This is probably so fckn way off and as curious as I am to know to the facts, I'm so deep into this idea that if I'm completely wrong, I almost don't want to know lmfao

Wedding Dance Instructor recommendation

Looking for a dance instructor in Adelaide for our wedding that can pretty much just teach us the very basics. We already have a song and don't want to do a FULL choreograhped dance, we just want to learn the steps to a simple rumba, maybe where can chuck in some ad lib spins, dips or lifts etc. I have a very small history of dance and music (literally so small and mainly in dance only hip-hop), so I have a sense of rhythym, but my fiance doesn't as much, hence why I at least wanted us to learn the fundamentals. Trying to be very strict with money so looking for somewhere very affordable.

Any recommendations? Ty!

Olivia’s YSPSFAGSI and Lights/A6

I saw someone make a post on this subreddit about how “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” by Olivia Rodrigo reminded them of A6 and it got them vibing with it straight away. I didn’t hear it straight but I’ve been listening to it nonstop and now I keep hearing Lights in Maggots for Brains! Specifically:

  1. The opening verse musically gives Surface Tension vibes for sureeee!

  2. The low vocals in when she sings “he goes away” at the end of the chorus

  3. The magicalllll vocal layers during the outro! This was the first thing that screamed Lights to me and oh my, I love it SO much

I just love how a lot of this album leans into early 00’s pop/punk/emo, especially with the edgy aggressive guitars of The Cure - this song feels very Taking Back Sunday/The Used/Box Car Racer. A little like how Ghost Girl on First obvs references TBS and even how Lights’ vocals are reminiscent of Adam Lazzara’s singing style.

I just love everything emo & Lights fr 😭🖤

What islands should we visit for our Honeymoon as Aussie travellers?

I know this subreddit probably gets a million questions like this but would love some specific advice if anyone's happy to offer it!

We're looking at having our honeymoon there for roughly 12-14 days in May next year (trying to keep it shorter so we can afford it, exchange rate is horrendous for us) and I'm stuck with what islands to visit and whether we should cram it all in or stick to less.

Neither of us have been so of course we want to see a lot of the main things, but we're stuck between this and wanting it to be relaxing given it's a honeymoon. We've just done an extremely busy, city hopping type trip in Europe over 3 months so would love a bit more chilled.

I 100% want to go to Big Island for the manta rays and volcano park. I think we'd only spend two nights (one full day) in Honolulu to 1. fly to Hawaii and 2. visit Pearl Harbor memorial.

And then this is where I'm not sure what to do; I love the sound of both Maui (for Halaekala and Road to Hana) and Kauai (for Poipu Beach turtle snorkeling and the nature in general). Given we have only a couple weeks, do we do both these islands or just focus on one? Non negoitable is swimming with turtles, but I think you can do that on either island?

We're not into the city life and busy stuff so would basically want a mix of relaxing in nature and doing some activities. Thank youu!
