An unforgettable game of Cable vs Apocalypse
Enemy Side
The previous turn Barrage & Gauntlet were revealed as my encounter cards.
Apocalypse was “No Longer Worthy”, but still had full HP (11), a tough status, and retaliate thanks to the Molecular Control attachment.
Sugar Man was at full hp (5) with a tough status.
Infinite Soldier with “Guard” had The Fittest attachment and 8 hp remaining.
The Dark Riders side scheme was in play with 3 threat.
Hero side
I was in Alter-Ego with 1hp remaining.
Allies were Bling & Gambit (but he had 0 atk/thw thanks to the encounter card attached to him having 0 boost icons).
My upgrades and supports were; Heroic Conditioning, Skilled Investigator, IPAC, X-Jet, Children of the Atom, Plasma Blast, Graymalkin, & Professor.
There were 6 side schemes in the victory display.
My hand
I had one Telekinetic Blast, Followed, and 4 other cards of no use.
I exhausted Professor to draw another card, but it wasn't a damage one either.
I had no choice, but to go for it.
My turn
I flipped to hero form & attached Followed to Dark Riders.
I exhausted Cable to defeat it, applied Followed’s damage to Infinite Soldier reducing him to 4hp, then readied Cable, and exhausted Skilled Investigator to draw a card. I used Graymalkin to pay for Plasma Rifle which took out Infinite Soldier.
In a last ditch effort I exhausted IPAC, dealt myself an encounter card, and was able to draw 2 cards…and the odds were in my favor. I picked up another Telekinetic Blast!
Now I just needed to get the tough off of Apocalypse & Sugar Man. With only 1hp I couldn’t knock it off Apocalypse because of his retaliate, so Bling! Sacrificed herself to do it. Then exhausted Cable to knock the tough off of Sugar Man.
Next thing…using both TK Blast’s thanks to X-Jet and the abundance of cards I had. Was it a clean board? No. But did I have one of the most unforgettable games of Champions I’ve ever had? Yes.
