Need ThrottleStop help: Gigabyte G5 KD i5-11400H hitting 95-97°C and throttling
Hi everyone,
I have a **Gigabyte G5 KD** laptop with:
* Intel i5-11400H
* RTX 3060 Laptop GPU
* 16GB RAM
* Windows 11
I'm having CPU temperature issues while gaming.
**Current behavior:**
* In Entertainment Mode, CPU temperatures quickly jump to around **90°C**.
* In Performance Mode, temperatures reach **95-97°C**.
* Once temperatures get high, the CPU clock speed drops from around **4.0 GHz** down to **3.0 GHz** and sometimes even **2.0 GHz**, causing FPS drops and stuttering.
I'm using **ThrottleStop 9.7**, but I'm not very experienced with it.
**Important note:**
I am not using the original charger. The original charger is missing, and I'm currently using a **180W charger**. Could this be contributing to the problem?
**ThrottleStop screenshots attached.**
**Where are these settings located?**
* **PL1 / PL2 settings:** TPL (Turbo Power Limits) window.
* **Speed Shift EPP:** Main ThrottleStop window (left side).
* **Turbo Ratios:** FIVR window → Turbo Ratio Limits section.
* **Undervolting:** FIVR window → Unlock Adjustable Voltage (if supported by BIOS/microcode).
* **Throttle indicators:** Main window → Limits button.
Can anyone help me optimize:
* PL1 / PL2 values
* Speed Shift EPP
* Turbo ratios
* Any safe undervolting options for an i5-11400H
* Any other settings that could reduce temperatures without significantly reducing gaming performance
From my screenshots:
* PROCHOT seems to be set at **92°C**
* CPU reaches around **90-97°C**
* Clock speed drops heavily when temperatures rise
I'd appreciate advice from anyone with a Gigabyte G5 KD, i5-11400H, or experience tuning ThrottleStop.
Thanks!
